In this day of “everyone is a photographer”, it is very important that you research details about the photographer that will be closely handling your newborn.
Jodie Holstein-Otte has been a full-time professional photographer for over 12 years and photographs on location in Baltimore and all over Maryland and Southern Pennsylvania.
Art Background: Jodie began as an award-winning artist painting traditional portraits by hand in pastels and oils many years ago; portrait photography became a natural progression. She strives to maintain realism amongst these days of digital processing and creates images full of warmth and peace with classic rich tones using both natural and studio lighting that has been nationally recognized for excellence in lighting.
Publications: Jodie’s work has been in local publications as well as nationally in Parenting, American Baby, Brio Magazine, Parents, Fit Pregnancy, InStyle, US Weekly, People Magazine, the New York Times, and on Fox News in Baltimore and CNN. Her work has been published in the Big Book of Babies by J.C.Suares, and she is known as the photographer behind the Similac Infant Formula ad campaigns from 2009-2011. Her work may also be seen on greeting cards, in books, publications, and teaching material for medical professionals.
Work History/Personal: Jodie was the original visible fine art newborn photographer in the Greater Baltimore area, having specialized in newborn photography since 2005. Prior to, she owned and operated businesses in the medical field and early childhood development and has been fingerprinted/background checked through the Maryland Childcare Administration in 1996 and then again through Pennsylvania 4H – Penn State Extension in 2013 and remains as a screened volunteer.
She is currently pursuing studies in accounting, upper-level math, and actuarial services. She has been married for 20 years, and has a 16-year-old daughter, 19-year-old son, and 26-year-old stepdaughter.
On Location: Jodie owned and operated three commercial studios in Northern Baltimore County but found that newborns and children are much more comfortable photographed in their own environment. She typically takes sessions through Harford and Baltimore Counties but travel at no additional cost to Carroll, Howard, Anne Arundel counties depending upon current scheduling.
